This property is presently used as a residence for the owners, for grain/hay production, and as the headquarters of a custom farming business. This farm had been used to milk over 100 cows. 50’ X 80’ two story bank barn, built in 1860, with 68 free stalls underneath. These are wide loop free stalls with earthen beds. Air inlet were cut in the barn floor above to allow air to come into the free stall area.
Attached 24’ X 80’ single story addition built in 1996 and used to have some free stalls, and is attached to the bank barn. In the bank barn is the room with the pit for the double 6 parlor. The milk house is an addition to the bank barn.
Attached to the bank barn is also a 60’ X 80’ single story loose housing area, built in 1996, with a covered feed bunk. This addition houses the holding area, and comes right up to the two silos. This building is in good condition, but the feed bunk and concrete needs some work.
All manure from free stalls, holding area, and loose housing area was scraped into a reception pit, and gravity flows into an earthen manure pit with 350,000 gallon storage capacity. All parlor water flowed into the pit.
There are two upright silos. One is an 18’ X 60’ concrete stave with top unloaders are in place, but have not been used for some years. There is also a 24’ X 64’ bunker silo with concrete sides and bottom. They had loaded the forages and mixed feed in a portable TMR mixer, and unloaded the TMR into a conveyer, which took the feed to the taper board feeder, to feed the cows. They fed heifers at the heifer barn with the TMR mixer, as well.
40’ X 64” single story equipment shed/shop with and enclosed 24’ section with concrete floor. This building is on fair condition.
24’ X 120’ three sided heifer barn with some pens, and 22’ X 120’ concrete apron for barnyard. This barn was built in 1994, and is in fair condition. This barn and barnyard could be divided into 4-6 pens for different size heifers, and a fence line bunk could be installed.
The farm buildings are in good repair, but the essential elements are here to modify into a fairly labor efficient free stall/parlor dairy setup. Or it could be used as the headquarters for a farming operation, horse operation, beef cattle, or just a country residence.
