Three-story historic "BASSET" building is an important Brenham landmark. Beautiful wood floors, bead board ceilings, round arches & stucco hood moldings at door and window openings. Each floor has bath and kitchenette, multiple private offices and workrooms. A few of the unique features include: Original birdcage elevator, vault with safety deposit boxes, phone booth with first direct line to Houston, 1869 cistern 12' deep and 13' around. Third floor has skylight where they use to "Grade" the cotton then in later years it was used as a ballroom. There is also a fire escape on the back of the building. Elevator goes to 4th level where you will find the equipment room.
Completed in 1873, this Italianate structure housed the Basset & Basset Bank until 1884. The Third Story was added in the early 1990's.
