This property is in a choice location between Olton, Plainview and Lubbock, Texas and can be operated as an irrigated farm raising crops common to the area such as alfalfa, peanuts, corn, cotton and wheat or as an excellent stocker (pre-conditioning) cattle operation or a combination of both.
There are eight circles with Zimmatic center-pivot sprinkler irrigation systems with drops on 60 centers. There are eight circles with Zimmatic center-pivot sprinkler irrigation systems with drops on 60 centers. Six of the circles are 125 acres each, one (#3) is 140 acres and one (#4) is approximately 145 acres. Three of the Zimmatic sprinklers were installed new in 2008. Five are 1978 models that were reconditioned in 2008. A 1982 Reinke sprinkler that windshield wipes 61 acres was added in 2010.
There is an irrigation well at or near each pivot point plus three additional wells that were drilled in 2010. The northern five sprinklers (#1, 2, 2 , 3 & 4) are connected to six wells and to each other. Sprinkler #5 is connected to two wells. Sprinklers #6 & #7 are connected together and to three irrigation wells.
Sprinkler #8 is connected to one well located at its pivot point. All underground line is 8 high pressure plastic. An enclosed map shows the gallons per minute for which each sprinkler is nozzled. Two additional wells were drilled in Fall, 2011, but pumps have not yet been installed.
The wells at four pivot points (#3, 4, 6 & 7) have 8 turbine pumps with hollow shaft electric motors. There submersible electric motors and pumps in the rest of the wells. The wells at four pivot points (#1, 2, 5, 8) have 40hp motors, the well at pivot point #2 has a 25 hp motor, the new well between pivots #1, 2 3, and 4 has a 20hp motor and the other two new wells have 30hp motors. There are two domestic wells with submersible electric motors and pumps. One that supplies water to the home and cattle pens and the other to a new set of feed pens located approximately mile south of the house.
Electricity to the east 360 acres is supplied by South Plains Electric Coop in Lubbock while electricity for the rest of the farm is supplied by Lamb County Electric in Littlefield. Well logs are included from area farms near or adjacent to the property to show depth to red bed in the area. Also included are work orders for four wells located on the property in which turbine pumps were replaced by submersible electric motors and pumps.
A two-story home with 3-bedroom and 2-baths was completely remodeled in 2010. The home has approximately 1,620 sq. ft. of living space (per the tax office), a stucco exterior and a new metal roof. A large covered patio and a car port were added in 2010. There is a 40x60 insulated shop building with a concrete floor and plumbing for a restroom and a 40 x 120 metal equipment shed. There is a large set of steel cattle pens north of the house with 270 ft. of a new concrete feed bunk, working are, loading chute and cattle scales.
The farm has a new 5-strand barbed-wire perimeter fence with steel posts. The new set of feed pens south of the house has 400 ft. of concrete feed bunk. In addition, there is 70 ft. of new concrete feed bunk along edge of one fields.
This farm is at the far east of the sand hills that begin in New Mexico and are known for having good availability of irrigation water and soils that will produce a wide variety of crops.
Farms of this size with good water are becoming hard to find. Don't overlook this one.
