Sligo and Springfield Plantations comprise 1,744 acres and have been in the Armstrong family for over 100 years. Properties like this only come on the market once in a lifetime, if you are lucky.
When Judge George W. Armstrong purchased the property in 1917 the abstract dated back to 1775 to the Spanish Governor Carlos De Grand Pre.
Judge Armstrong sold his famous Horseshoe Ranch in Sulphur Oklahoma and moved 4,500 head of cattle, mules and horses to Natchez Ms. and established the legendary Sligo Ranch.
The Judge came to Natchez to negotiate contracts with the Government to supply cattle and mules during World War 1. Judge Armstrong would buy several plantations totaling over 40,000 acres in the Natchez area.

There are multiple dwellings on the property surrounded by the majestic old Live Oaks that date back to the earliest plantation house.
The Hunting Lodge with its unique black and white marble floor was remodeled in 1968 and added on to in 1997.
In 1980, Beverly Thompson, Judge Armstrongs grandson, built the log cabin.
In 2004 the overseers house was remodeled.
In 2010 the two story barn, dating back to the Civil War, was remodeled to make an apartment or retreat house.
The property also has a mobile home that is currently rented by the hunting club.
Sligo/Springfield is now owned by Judge Armstrongs great granddaughters.
The plantation boast some the best hunting and fishing in Mississippi. The property has had an excellent hunting program in place for decades. All of the neighboring hunting clubs adhere to the same rigid, highly selective standards. The large lake on the west side of the property provides excellent fishing and duck hunting opportunities.
The road system on the property provides access to the entire property year round. The main road is an all-weather gravel road and the secondary roads can support SUVs or ATVs. Sligo plantation runs south from Hutchins Landing Rd all the way to the Homochitto River. The property is approximately 4 miles long north to south and anywhere from to 1.3 miles wide measured east to west.
There are acres and acres of meticulously maintained food plots to lure the trophy whitetails to your stand. The turkey hunting on Sligo is some of the best in the Miss-Lou area.
The property benefits from some of the most fertile soil in Mississippi. High grade hardwood and pine timber abounds on the land. The timber has been managed by the family and its foresters for many decades.
The topography on the northern 2/3s of the property is rolling hills with natural stands of mature hardwood, mature pine, pine plantations, lakes and food plots. The southern 1/3 of the property is in the Homochitto Swamp with beautiful cypress and hardwood timber and plenty of food plots for the wildlife. The land along the Homochitto River is some of the most coveted hunting land in Mississippi.
