Water: There is one Carrizo water well and the water quality is excellent. The well is about 4,700 feet deep. Water lines have been laid and ran to several locations on the ranch including the ranch headquarters. There are several ponds of various sizes on the ranch and they generally hold water pretty well. This area of south Texas is actually pretty good tank country. The ranch also has 1.5 miles of Nueces River frontage. That part of the ranch has been high fenced away from the river incase of a flood. That in itself is an attractive feature because it allows you to hunt free ranging game that constantly travels the river.
Wildlife: Through proper and selective management practices the ranch has been successful at growing and occasionally harvesting a really big buck. The wildlife is supplemental fed year round in addition to the food plots and the native brush available to the game. McMullen county is one of the top counties sought after by deer hunters because of the above average genetic features found in many of the deer. In addition, a few species of exotics have been introduced to offer a year round hunt and add to the overall excitement of the hunt. These are the species and the estimated numbers of exotics introduced; Scimitar Horned Oryx – 8 (3 bulls and 5 cows) Red Stag – 5 (2 bulls and 3 cows) Elk – 5 (2 bulls and 3 cows) Blackbuck – 2 bucks Axis – about 100 head, bucks and does Fallow – just a few does
