The JC Herring Farm is a great working farm located about 5 miles Southeast of Spivey's Corner in Sampson County. This farm has been held by the current family since the mid 1800's.

The tract offers 105+/- acres with approximately 46 FSA acres of cleared farmland, 54 acres of woodland and 2.5 acres of farm paths and old home site.

The farmland soil is predominantly Norfolk sandy loam which makes it prime farmland, suitable for locally crops. The wooded acreage contains Rains sandy loam, which classifies as a hydric or wetland soil.

The timber stand consists largely of loblolly pine plantation planted around 1988. The timber is ready for a thinning, so that the remaining trees can mature into sawtimber.
