Terrain: Dos Hermanos Ranch is a great representative of the South Texas Brush Country and has La Parilla Creek running through it. The ranch is approximately 75% bottomlands with productive dark sandy loam soils and 25% rolling hills. The change in elevations between the creek bottoms and hills add to the rugged beauty of the property. There are many bull mesquite, hackberry, elm, and live oak trees lining the creeks. Vegetation on the ranch includes such species as mesquite, guajillo, granjeno, black brush, prickly pear, coma, cat claw, lime prickly ash, mountain laurel, and Texas persimmon. The brush does not get any better in South Texas. There are also 12 food plots interspersed throughout the ranch, planted in oats.
Hunting: Dos Hermanos Ranch has arguably one of the best native deer herds in South Texas. Never having any outside genetics introduced, the ranch has been high fenced and intensely game managed for 9 years by the same family. The owners have purposefully never taken a trophy off the property, and have kept meticulous records of bucks that have been raised on the ranch, watching them grow from year to year. There are bucks that are estimated to go over 200 B&C, and numerous others that are estimated to score in the 170’s, 180’s, and 190’s. There are over 1,000 pictures taken of bucks all over the ranch to prove this statement. There are also helicopter deer surveys that are available upon request. Needless to say the deer hunting on this ranch is phenomenal! After 9 years of hard work and tender care, the table is set for the next owner to step in and enjoy the best whitetail deer hunting in Texas. There is great turkey hunting on the ranch, with many roosting spots along the creek bottoms covered in big hardwoods. Depending on rainfall, the dove and quail hunting has been excellent.
Water: This property has 3 water wells, equipped with 2 windmills and 1 electric submersible pump. There are over 15 miles of buried water lines throughout the ranch supplying water to approximately 15 concrete watering troughs. The creek bottoms also hold pockets of water during a rainy season.
Improvements: There is a very nice headquarters on the ranch, including 2 homes right next to each other with a separate dining/cooking building complete with a commercial kitchen in between them. At the headquarters, there are also 2 large metal barns and 3 bulk storage containers for corn and protein feed. The entire ranch was high fenced 9 years ago, and there is a 175 acre high-fenced trap on the South border of the ranch with plans of creating a series of breeder pens. Included in the sale are 13 free choice protein feeders and 5 deer blinds that are stationed throughout the ranch. Also included in the sale are the following: bull dozer, roller chopper, tractor, front end loader with box blade on the back, chisel plows, discs, Burton air-blown trailer feeder, and 2 walk-in coolers. All the furniture in the houses and dining hall stay except for a few personal items.
