This beautifully unique parcel rich with history and grand views is nestled on a gentle sloping hillside in the towns of Peru (199 acres) and Rumford (18 acres). This parcel evokes ones curiosity of the past when you see evidence of the original homestead fireplace, original barn, and an old Chevrolet vehicle that dates probably back to the 30s or 40s. While I was taking photos I enjoyed watching the bees pollinate the 10-12 original apple trees and wild blueberry bushes. There are a couple of fields with beautiful views just waiting for someone to use. It has power brought into the property and is located off the Burgess Hill Road on a discontinued road that the town reserved for a private way (this was accepted as a private way in 1958). Interestingly this property was owned by a Burgess and one can see Burgess wifes headstone in a family cemetery on this property dating back to 1843. Needless to say, the history of this parcel has me quite intrigued and I am having it researched so that I can share a narrative with anyone interested. This property is truly unique with its fields, history, small brook running through the property, recreational and farming opportunities, privacy, and just that peaceful spot to get away from it all. The photos do not convey the beauty of this land. At the moment, I am in the process of bringing back the fields that have been neglected for a few years, trimming around the apple trees, making a trail system through the property in order to access two mountain peaks on this property, and also making a trail to the cemetery as well.
