There are a few areas in the state that can honestly year in and year out produce good numbers of pheasants along with numerous known big bucks harvested, and the Belgrade/Brooten/Sedan area is absolutely one of them hands down with large areas of upland nesting, mixed sloughs, and cropland. Knowing this, it didn’t surprise me to see a number of deer and pheasants on the property during my evaluation and if the spring nesting season turns out to be anything, the pheasant population should be great in 2018. This property is located just SE of Sedan and is a part of a larger habitat complex (see zoomed out aerial at the end of the photos) and contains large areas of upland restored nesting cover, low seclusion/wintering cover, some tree/shrub plantings and the ability to plant food plots or expand upon planting woody cover shelterbelts, a small old dug out watering pond on the south end for some potential waterfowl not to mention areas for a building site. The property has approximately 159 acres that are in the RIM (Reinvest in MN) program with the balance being the larger slough in the NE corner, trees, and non-easement upland grass/nesting areas. Don’t forget that if your intentions would lie in building a house or hunting camp headquarters, there is a ton of additional public land in the area as well as only about 12 miles to Glenwood and famed Lake Minnewaska for fishing in the summer as you work on food plots.
