Day use facilities at the park include picnic tables with grills and water. There is a Group Picnic Pavilion with a capacity of 40 people and a Group Recreation Hall with a kitchen and a capacity of 75 people. While you are at the park be sure and visit the Texas State Park Store.
The park also has a Lighted fishing pier, a 4-lane concrete boat ramp, restrooms with showers and and an RV dump station.
Things to do at the Lake Area Attractions: Lake Champion is a popular interest nearby on State Highway 208. Other areas of interest include the Heart of West Texas Museum, Heritage House, Ruddick Park, and numerous antique stores. Events of interest include the Annual 4th of July Fly-In; Annual Boer Goat Cook-Off; Annual St. Ann's Fall Festival; Railhead Arts and Crafts Weekend the third weekend each March, July, and November; Annual Bass Tournament; Annual Golf Tournament; Hunters Appreciation Banquet held opening weekend of hunting season; Annual Cowboy Breakfast and Old-Timers Reunion; High Plains Junior Rodeo, Parade, and Queen's Contest; and the Annual Courthouse Lighting and Parade which includes the Little Mr. and Ms. Merry Christmas contest. Activities include picnicking, camping, fishing, and lake swimming (unsupervised). Containing more than five miles of shoreline, the 500 acres of park land afford numerous outdoor activities for lake swimmers, fisherman, skiers, jet-skiers, campers, hikers, and naturalists. Park visitors of all ages enjoy seeing part of the Texas Longhorn herd.
