If your battle cry is: "Let's get away from the crowds!" - this property is for you. It has been said that Montana is one small town with a long main street. Nye exemplifies that perfectly. Forty acres in the Nye area about 20 minutes from the nearest town with a grocery store are waiting for your home to be built.
The property is crested by rock formations and pine trees to the south. To the North, East and West the acreage is looking at mountains, cliffs and the Stillwater Valley. The lush grass this property has to offer will be a delight for your horses or other livestock you might choose. There is a small electric substation right next door for easy access to electricity. Regarding water, the neighbor's well to the immediate north pumps 15 gallons per minute and is only 64ft deep! The static water level is at 24ft, so you could actually use a hand pump like in the good old days.
...
The acreage is fenced to the west, north and south but open to the east. The high tension wire traversing the property carries the hydro-electric power generated by the dam at the end of the West Rosebud Canyon into the Stillwater Canyon.
There is a very nice restaurant in Dean which is about 4 miles up the road. To get the bare necessities, Nye features the "Nye Mall" which is a convenient store that has one of everything, including movie rentals. Just before you get to the Volunteer Fire Station, you come to the post office where a small wooden sign has the telltale words inscribed: "Entering and Leaving Nye."
Nye has an illustrious past and I posted the History of Nye - take a look!
To get into the National Forest take Hwy 419 West past the Big Horn Sheep wintering range and the waterfall in the mountains to the very end. There you have a spectacular hiking and riding trail following the Stillwater River for 26 miles all the way into the Yellowstone Park. You can also hike up to the waterfall and stand behind it - it is about two miles mostly uphill to get there. If you have guests, the National Forest maintains a campground right there, bring your fishing rods! The Stillwater is one of the few Blue Ribbon Trout Streams in the world!
