Every piece of real estate is unique, but this one, as odd as it sounds, is very unique. The Dos Pueblos Ranch is one of the most famous properties along the Santa Barbara Coast. Over time, the ranch had many owners and residents, some famous, others not so famous. In 1943 the entire ranch was purchased by Samuel Mosher, a wealthy businessman who had a passion for farming, and in particular, flowers. He created the Dos Pueblos Orchid Company and employed experts in the field from as far away as Japan. His company was largely responsible for the Orchid becoming as popular as it is today. During this golden age Mr. Mosher also used his ranch as a showplace for agriculture, and hosted huge dinners and events with rich and famous guests. He eventually bequeathed the 65 acres of the ranch used for the orchid company to his wife. Sadly, the company was shuttered after Mosher's death in 1970, and the greenhouses and other improvements fell into disrepair.
What remains today is 50 acres including a modest home, numerous greenhouses, laboratories and support structures, and a about a thousand feet of pristine, private oceanfront. Once a jewel along the Santa Barbara Coast, this land is waiting for the right owners to recapture its former glory.
