The ranch is generally a rolling desert brush country. Alamito Creek runs through the property for about 3-1/4 miles. It is lined with large cottonwoods and flows completely through the ranch for several months in most years. In dry times, water flows through or stands in 50%-75% of the creekbed. The ranch is well watered by Alamito Creek, dirt tanks, twelve wells and about 3 miles of relatively new pipeline. Two pastures of the ranch, totaling around 1447 acres, are restricted from grazing by the Conservation Reserve Program through the USDA. This contract is in effect until September of 2018 and prohibits these pastures only from being grazed by livestock. The payment from the program is approximately the same as a grazing lease for these pastures.
