Recreation- Located in the center of the Pacific Flyway, the waterfowl hunting is exceptional. Wild rice is a magnet for the local and migratory ducks and geese, and this ranch is considered THE X when it comes to attracting and holding large numbers of birds. Several blinds are in place. The Northeastern California Waterfowl Zone is open from early October to mid-January, and has opportunities for both Youth and Veteran hunt days, as well as a special Late white goose & white front goose season that runs from early February through early March. The special late hunt has liberal limits for white and dark geese (up to 20 white geese and up to 10 dark geese), and, for the last 15 years Big Valley has been known to be a destination for the vast flocks of geese leaving the Central Valley on their route back north.
