Big Oak Farms is named for an ancient and majestic white oak tree that is growing on the old Johnson home place, which was originally tended by mule and plow. The tree is estimated to be over 300 years old and has a circumference of nearly 24 feet! This tract of land has great diversity with approximately half in cultivation (soybeans 08) and half in pine plantations approximately 18 years old. The pine plantations are planted along an old creek bed, Owens Branch, with a combination of crops, bedding cover and water. Big Oak holds a large number of whitetail deer, and many have been taken with a bow by a select few guests of the current owner.
