Interestingly, in the past, this parcel has been owned by a notable cryptographer and NSA spy who renounced his citizenship and defected to the USSR at the height of the Cold War. For history buffs, spy buffs, and cryptography buffs, it's an interesting piece of espionage history in real estate form. He sold the property in 2001, signing his deed with an acknowledgement from the U.S. Consulate in St Petersburg, Russia, having inherited the property while living in the same city (then called Leningrad). Facsimile deed from this spy to be included in sale, upon request.
With Helendale to the South, and Barstow to the East, this parcel is close to the high desert action. Located along a dirt road just off of Helendale Road, which connects Route 66 with Route 58, the Barstow/Bakersfield highway. This is an area that could see increased development in connection with the High Desert Corridor and the high speed train planned and built by Caltrans, LA Metro, XpressWest, and several Southern California cities and counties.
