Around 50 miles south on Highway 90 is Marfa, with population about 1.981. It's the seat of Presidio County and has shops, restaurants, lodging, just about any business you could want, and is renowned for its minimalist art. The area hospital is the Big Bend Regional Medical Center. Marfa has become a cutting edge tourism hotspot. From there you are near Big Bend Ranch State Park, Davis Mountains State Park, Balmorea State Park, and the Fort Leaton State Historic Site. Maybe you would like to take a crack at solving the mystery of the Marfa Lights, which have puzzled locals for well over a hundred years.
