A seasonal, unmaintained road running from Route 1 thru the woods and fields near Lively Brook lead you to this remote 41 acre parcel. You will notice right away that these woods are different from those around it. They are less dense, more open and alive with birds and wildlife. The rolling terrain is covered with maple, birch, hackmatack and a scattering of fir, pine and spruce. A seasonal brook runs thru the property. This is a great place for that off-the-grid hunting camp or get-away. A place to relax, listen to nature and unplug from all the technology. Of course if you must, cell phone reception is available, depending you your carrier. The access road serves as a connection to a network of ATV and snowmobile trails that will take you to Whiting and Cutler, From Whiting you can connect to the Downeast Sunrise Trails an 85-mile multi-use corridor connecting Ellsworth to Ayers Junction in eastern Maine. It serves as a major portion of the northeastern head of the East Coast Greenway. The Sunrise Trail is designed to accommodate hiking, thick-tire bicycles, ATVs, horses, cross country skis and snowmobiles. The town of Whiting is a small town with a population of just under 500 according to the 2010 census. The village has a general store, small village school and the town office/fire department. The town has numerous lakes, streams and inner bays for fishing, swimming, and boating. Access to the ocean is just a 15 20 minute drive from most parts of town. While the village is located on Route 1, the town itself is spread across acres of woodland to Route 191 and the ocean. Talking about the two distinct parts of town, the old saying "you can't get there from here" can hold true if you add "without going thru two other towns first". Call Debbie at 207-461-6473.
