The Ullman Ranch is one of several successfully run cow calf operations owned and operated by the Ullman Brothers Land and Cattle Company. The ranch encompasses 4,596+/- deeded acres in Malheur County, near the small ranching and farming community of Ironside, Oregon. Along with the deeded acres, the ranch has long standing water rights of 354+/- acre feet used to irrigate the pastures as well as provide stock water. The ranch is located approximately an hour drive west of the town of Vale, Oregon and approximately an hour drive east of John Day, Oregon. The community of Ironside is three miles east of the ranch headquarters. The family has been running 250 mother cows with calves at their sides along with requisite number of bulls on the ranchs abundant grazing ground. The ranch has a first class cattle handling facility consisting of welded steel pens and panels and a covered 50,000 lb. certified scale. A 20-foot sweep tub, curved crowding alley, covered hydraulic squeeze chute and steel loading chute are all anchored on concrete pads. Abundant stock water and irrigation water systems are in place. They are very efficient for watering the cattle and the 300+/- acres of flood and wheel line irrigated pastures. The ranch has excellent, but not overdone, improvements including the owners residence, managers home, bunkhouse, equipment storage, shop and a 300 head backgrounding lot. A variety of wildlife including mule deer, elk, coyote, pronghorn antelope, as well as California quail, sage grouse and prairie falcons are seen on a regular basis throughout the ranch lands. The ranch has had the same management for over twenty years.
