Over a hundred years ago, the main travel route between Newberry and Whitmire relied on a bridge that traversed Indian Creek. Eventually, Highway 121 was constructed one mile upstream. The original bridge was abandoned and forgotten, and in time, collapsed. The steel girders quietly remain in the river bottom among oak trees that might be the only living witnesses of the bridges prior prominence. As a nod to a bygone peaceful era, the surrounding farm is named for the old bridge. Broken Bridge Farm is a 320 acre retreat that has been thoughtfully developed to offer an escape from the modern world. The wildlife habitat consists of a diverse landscape fragmented by fields, food plots, hardwood hillsides, pine ridges and mature river bottomland. The main compound provides all the necessary amenities needed to facilitate management and enjoyment of the surrounding property, including a log cabin, bunkhouse, pond cabana, workshop and two equipment shops.
