The dance hall was built in the early 1900s. In 1933 the dance floor was expanded, opening up one of the most cherished dance halls in the state of Texas. For decades the hall was a celebrated place for locals and travelers alike to cut a rug. The dance hall is responsible for bringing many couples together as well as helping form numerous lasting friendships. Locals say, "When you meet someone at Swiss Alp, it's for life." The hall has served as a venue for countless weddings and special events. With its large dance floor, high ceilings and rustic style tin roof the dance hall has a way of bringing people back to a simpler time. To this day, youth from all over still flock to the hall on Wednesday evenings in the summertime to enjoy a night of music and dancing.
