Little River Forest

Location

The Little River Forest is located in the Piedmont Region of Central Georgia. Piedmont means foot of the mountains and describes the slightly rolling, red clay, hill region located between the coastal plain to the south and the mountains to the north. The immediate neighborhood is dominated by timberland with interspersed pastures and rural residences. Putnam County was established in 1807 and named for Israel Putnam, a general in the American Revolutionary War.

There are many attractions in the Eatonton area, just 5 miles to the east, including the Uncle Remus Museum, Georgia Writers Museum, eclectic shops, art galleries, and quaint bed and breakfasts. The region boasts thousands of acres of public national forests, wildlife management and refuge areas, and many more recreational opportunities.
