Conveniently located only seven minutes from the quaint little town of Prairie City in Grant County, its also only twelve minutes from the big town of John Day with its additional restaurants and shopping. The property is bordered by Forest Service land on its west side, north side, and part of its east side. Great hunting! So good that an outfitter has paid thousands of dollars to be allowed to commercially guide elk, deer and turkey hunts in 2018, 2019 and again in 2020 on this and other adjacent land owned by the seller. You will be eligible for two Landowner Preference tags for deer and elk. The property is easily accessed from State Highway 26 by four miles of Road 18, which the County keeps plowed all winter. Just driving up Road 18 is pleasant, with large trees and pretty Bear Creek. Located on the north side of the John Day Valley, most of the northern half of this property has nice southerly views across the Valley at the snow-capped Strawberry Mountains. Several flat spots could be developed into a home site or just a large pad for your hunting trailer or RV, including along Bear Creek. One such site has already been developed into a graveled RV pad, at the end of the road into the middle of the property. Enjoy the peace and quiet of your own pine forest hunting heaven, yet be close to civilization any time you want to go mingle with the great people of Grant County! Note: This property is in the process of being partitioned into its own legal parcel; closing will be subject to the completion of that process.
