The current owner, Ken Mayer, acquired the ranch in 2016 and has since developed it into one of the premier polo facilities in North Texas. The facility has hosted multiple events sanctioned by the United States Polo Association, including interscholastic and intercollegiate competitions and the Texas College Polo Championship in both 2023 and 2024.

Mayer Ranch Polo also serves as a cornerstone of the regional polo community through its involvement with the Dallas-Fort Worth Polo Association, which has hosted numerous tournaments at the ranch, many culminating with championship matches played on the property’s pristine polo field.

Property History:

The roots of Mayer Ranch Equestrian date back to the mid-1980s when Lobo Polo & Cattle first established the original polo field and barn. The property was later transformed into a full polo facility by noted polo patron Bill Steding, who constructed the main residence and expanded the equestrian infrastructure before selling the property in 2016.

During the 1980s and 1990s, North Texas was home to a thriving high-goal polo scene—polo played at the highest competitive level in the world. Large crowds gathered at the famed Willow Bend Polo Club, where many of the sport’s top international players competed.

Many of these players kept and trained their horses in the Cross Roads and Oak Point area, including at facilities like Mayer Ranch Polo. In fact, Ken Mayer himself competed in a match on the Steding field as early as 1993.

Mayer Ranch Equestrian is located in the town of Cross Roads in eastern Denton County. The ranch offers exceptional accessibility throughout North Texas, situated between Interstate 35 and the Dallas North Tollway and less than one mile south of U.S. Route 380.

Downtown Dallas and Fort Worth are both approximately 40–45 minutes away.
