Besides the unspoiled beauty the land has deep historic roots. The Pardee Tramway area was once the location of a thriving mining town. It was established and named after Alfred Pardee in 1902 who came to the region to make mining investments. Today, the Pardee Tramway neighborhood sits where the old town site once was. It is almost wholly surrounded by State of Idaho and BLM land and lies west of Kamiah, Idaho near Six Mile Canyon.

Kamiah, Idaho is small mountain community that embodies the spirit of the West. The Kamiah Valley historically was a winter home for the Nez Perce tribe and was a long term camp site for Lewis and Clark. It sits in along the banks of the Clearwater River surrounded by the mountains and serves as a recreational hot spot. A multitude of recreational opportunities are available to its residents and visitors including steelhead fishing, big game hunting, rafting, hiking, atving and camping. Access to the Clearwater National Forest is approximately 30 minutes away along the beautiful Northwest Passage Scenic Byway. This community also offers a variety of year round events for its residents including the Annual Buttermilk Festival, a bluegrass music festival, rodeos, and the annual Kamiah BBQ Days.
