This property was a special resource for Native Americans, Spaniards, and early Tejas settlers. Sugarloaf Mountain, an important landmark to Native Americans, is visible from multiple points throughout the ranch but at Good Dog Hill both the sun and moon rises over Sugarloaf. For this reason it has been a source of many points and native American artifacts found through the years. Rancheria Grande is quickly becoming identified as located in the Gause/ Sugarloaf/and Pin Oak Ranch areas. The Former Faubion Bridge located on this property was an important crossing of the
Little River until it fell in 1937. The Nashville to Cameron Road went past Sugarloaf and continued to the Faubion bridge.
