At 431 acres this ranch has over a mile of paved frontage on Hwy 83, and its other boundaries are bracketed by large properties and infamous hill country ridges providing a degree of privacy one might never expect to find so close to town. Its namesake and focal point, Shut-in Creek, meanders through the interior of the property for well over a mile in route to joining with the majestic Frio River a short distance downstream. Shut-In Creek has a conservation easement held by the City of San Antonio Aquifer Protection Program. Currently that program protects over 150,000 acres in the recharge zones of the Edwards Aquifer, including several large ranches in the immediate vicinity of Concan. These easements place certain restrictions on future development and ensure that the properties protected by them will remain part of the treasured Texas Hill Country.
