This building, built originally in 1867, was the Union Free School. Today it is a three-season, mixed-use building with residential quarters on the second floor and commercial use on the first. Essex Cultural and Historical Organization (Essex Heritage Organization) leases two rooms on the east side of the building.

There is a center staircase from the first-floor foyer. The residential section is a large loft- like living space, another room on the south end with many windows, two bedrooms in north end, and a full bath and kitchen space on the west side of the 2nd floor.
