The ranch has a moderate concentration of mesquite and cedar. Mesquite is found primarily on the upland and ridges with cedar more common in the breaks and on the sideslopes. A considerable amount of brush work has been done in the northern part of the ranch. Scattered hardwoods are found in the draw and canyon bottoms. The turf of native grass is in good condition given the historically conservative stocking rate. The vegetation and terrain of this scenic ranch offers exceptional habitat for wildlife.
The ranch is watered by a combination of wells and surface water. There is one windmill, with drinking trough, located in the northern part of the ranch. The ranch also features six earthen tanks and live water in Turkey Creek.
The recreational features of the Smith Ranch are excellent. The location, terrain, vegetation and years of excellent stewardship make this ranch a fine hunting property.
