Exchange Plantation Exchange is a historic waterfront plantation located in the prestigious Plantersville District of Georgetown County along the banks of the Pee Dee River. The property traces its origins to a 1735 land grant from King George II. Neighboring plantations include Chicora Wood, Breakwater, Rosebank, Hasty Point, Glenmore, and Arundel. At its peak in the 1840s, this region produced half of all rice exported from America, making coastal Georgetown one of the wealthiest cities in the nation.
Today, Exchange is celebrated for its exceptional hunting, fishing, and natural beauty. The landscape features open pine woodlands, hardwood forests, clover fields, bass ponds, and waterfowl impoundments that support deer, turkeys, doves, and especially a wide variety of ducks. The house and grounds are stunning, and both the main house and rice barn are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Exchange has remained in the same family for more than 80 years and is protected by a conservation easement with Wetlands America Trust / Ducks Unlimited.
