The operation is anchored by a Black Angus reputation herd of roughly 2,500 head, run across contiguous deeded pasture and public range. What sets Kings River apart is scale paired with diversity. Roughly 6,500 acres of irrigated crop ground and 1,500 acres of irrigated meadow give the ranch a real farming component, producing more than 43,000 tons of alfalfa, corn, three-way mix, and triticale in 2025. That home-grown feed runs through the ranch's two feedlots when cattle are strong and sells into regional and California markets when commodity prices favor it, so the operation captures value whichever way the market turns.
Water is the foundation here. The ranch irrigates approximately 8,000 acres through 26 center pivots and an extensive system of wheel lines and flood ground, backed by 30 separate irrigation water rights and 23 stockwater rights. The headquarters feedlot is supplied by geothermal stock water, a real advantage through the cold months.
Improvements are built to operate at scale. Two feedlots totaling roughly 11,000 linear feet of bunk space, eight hay barns, an 8,000 square foot shop, 25,000 square feet of machine sheds, 37,000 linear feet of pipe corrals, 240 miles of fence, 13 homes, and a 4,000 foot gravel airstrip at headquarters.
