History:

The Sandy Ford property was part of a larger 1,500 Sandy Ford Plantation in 1847-1854.  The owner at the time, Richard Harrison, had purchased an additional plantation in Leon County from Louisiana planter David Barrow.  The property was named Sandy Ford due to a fording crossing located on the nearby Aucilla River.
